The Return with Awesome Tour

June 9, 2008 at 1:15 pm (Music)

Friday night we went to see one of my favorite bands, Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand.  I was especially impressed that Ryan Shupe was there to do the concert at all, since he had an emergency appendectomy only six days before.  Anyhoo, they were releasing their new album Last Man Standing, so they played every song from the album for us, mixed in with a few of the old standbys.  As always it was a great concert.  If you ever get to see these guys, do it!  Not only will you be amazed by their musical ability, but they are very funny and work hard at keeping everyone entertained.  For example, during this concert, they came halfway up the seating area (this is an amphitheatre) stood on the roof of the shed where the sound engineers are and played a few songs.  The drummer even came up there and played the cajón

I highly recommend their album.  It strikes me as a little more mature than their others, or maybe I should say serious- that is until, you get to the last song, Corn Dogs, which is exactly what it is about!  You can listen to their album by going to their website and clicking on the link on the lefthand side towards the top that says jukebox. In honor of my favorite annual vacation spot, make sure you listen to 10,000 Lakes.
