One Good Twist Deserves Another
It all started when I e-mailed my mom about Twist, a cabled hooded sweater that I wanted to knit. She responded by changing the subject line to “One Good Twist Deserves Another” and sent me this dishcloth pattern.
Pattern: Swish with a Twist
Yarn: Sugar ‘n Cream in Softly Taupe
Needles: 7
I think this stitch pattern is so pretty. It makes me think of a Wedding Band quilt. Wouldn’t this be pretty knit up as an afghan?
Okay, I’m Old
Last week DD #1 had her first lesson with her new guitar instructor. Let’s just say he’s very young. He gave Ariel some homework to listen to music and made some comment about old people’s music being very boring to listen to. LOL Yeah, I don’t think he has any idea what I listen to!
He did make a few specific listening assignments: Brain Stew by Green Day ( I guess he’s using it to introduce power chords), Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty and any classic rock.
In the meantime, maybe I will come up with something really awful to do with his guitar.
Now, Where Did I Put Those Buttons…

Pattern: Magic Slippers
Yarn: Leftover Sock Yarn dyed by DD#1’s class
Needles: size 1 dpns
I bought some really cute orange flower-shaped buttons for these, but I can’t remember where I put them!
After Camping, I Got Sick and Dyed…
I spent the day home Sunday with some sort of stomach bug. I felt bad enough to stay home, but well enough to feel restless about being home all day without being able to do much. So, of course the solution was to dye some yarn.
These are both overdyes…
Silver Lake Boardwalk
This past weekend we had our big family campout. We took the Boardwalk around Silver Lake, which is a pretty nice leisurely stroll. I managed to get a few nice pictures.
Knitting a Giant Hairball
Pattern: No-Hair-Day Chemo Cap
Yarn: Fun Fur in Chocolate
Needles: Size 7
This was my first Fun Fur project, and may very well be my last. I didn’t like the feel of the yarn at all…it was like knitting hair from my hairbrush! UGH!
Authors are Annoying People
I really only read Twilight so I could see what all the fuss was about.
Now I have a problem. I really enjoyed it. Halfway through was the point at which I HAD to keep going to find out what happened next. Then I get to the end and, well, it was totally rude of her to end it that way, leaving the reading hanging. So I put the next book on hold at the library. I’m 39th in line, 310 if I want the audiobook. Not fair!
Yes, I Still Knit…
And here’s the proof!
Pattern: Ballband Dishcloth
Yarn: Peaches and Cream in Fiesta Ombre and some leftover cotton (can’t recall the colorway)
Needles: Size 7
Since this month, the Austentatious Fiber Artists are reading Sense and Sensibility, we decided that projects would be practical or wildly romantic, or we could do one of each. This, of course, is my practical project. And is, hands down, my favorite dishcloth pattern.
Mill B North Fork Trail
Besides moose-watching, we spent the fourth hiking the Mill B North Fork Trail. The trail was a little wet in some places from the spring runoff.
Hidden Falls was beautiful.
DD#2 was fascinated with the size of this leaf. We all had to take turns putting our hands on it and take pictures.

When we got to the first overlook, it was a long way down.
The view was spectacular.
It took us 30 minutes to hike back to our car, after we took 2 hours to hike to the overlook!
