So Glad to be Done with Holiday Knitting!
I decided this Christmas I wouldn’t be knitting many presents for friends and family. All I did was two washcloths for my niece and four for a couple of friends. I’m so glad to be done with those! My hands were really aching after knitting all that cotton yarn. It felt so good to pick up DH’s Cabled Sweater Vest from Men In Knits! Paton’s Classic Wool Merino (in Natural Mix) is much easier on the hands and wrists- even with the cables!

And since I’m done with all my shopping, I’ve just been doing my cooking and baking for treats for the neighbors at a leisurely pace over the last few days.
I discovered a new recipe for fudge. My Mom’s recipe, for some reason wouldn’t set up anymore. So I found a new one on Allrecipes. It sets up perfectly, tastes really good, and you cook it in the microwave.
Easy and good. I always like it when cooking happens that way!
What Do You Do With Your Scrap Yarn?
I’ve been thinking about this one a lot lately. I seem to have this compulsive need to knit every last bit of yarn into something lately. So I thought I’d share some things I’ve done and some things I’d like to try.
First, some things I’ve done with my scrap yarn.
Both the Ballband Dishcloth and Garterlac Dishcloth are great for leftover cotton yarn. With the garterlac, I just change colors after completing each layer.
You can make a pair of Child’s Mittens.
Use your leftover sock yarn to make a pair of “Little 16″ Newborn Socks.
Some things I’d like to try:
A mitered square blanket.
“Monster” socks.
The Leftovers Vest.

Wonderful Wallaby Finished
I must say, once I was done knitting, I had no desire to do all the grafting and weaving in of ends on DD’s Wallaby. I learned a lot from this sweater. You can see all of the modifications I made by using the link in the sidebar called Bloosgrl’s Wonderful Wallaby Modifications.
I hope this helps other people like me who have run into trouble knitting this pattern.
It’s Time for a Bonfire!
I just had to post and let you know I am putting the final touches on my daughter’s Wallaby. YIPPEEE! All I have left to do is close up the hood, the underarms and weave in the ends. I will be very surprised if DD #1 will allow me to block it. She’s been checking my progress on a daily basis and *can’t wait* to wear it! I’ve noticed many people have been referred to my blog while searching for Wallaby help and I will try to post a tutorial sometime this week explaining how I modified this sweater so I could finish it.
Now I can burn the pattern! Teeheehee!
