How Does Your Garden Grow?
I was excited to see some tiny melons on my Sugar Baby melon plant. They were so cute I just had to take some pictures!
My Mr. Stripey tomato plant was an experiment this year and one that I think will have been worth it. I can already see the striping in the green tomatoes!
I also made one of my favorite recipes today: Benito Bean Dip.. It’s from one of my favorite cookbooks, Lickety Split Meals. You can download some free recipes here. They are usually good, simple and healthy.
Two Finished Objects
DD #1 wanted to make a gift for her new teacher to give her on the first day of school.
Pattern: Bamboozle Wee Bag
Yarn: Peaches and Cream
I like this pattern. Although the name sounds like something you might not want!
It knits up easily and very fast because you knit the bottom first and then pick up and knit the other three edges of the bottom to make the sides. She ran out of yarn towards the end and I gave her some leftover Peaches and Cream in a different colorway, but it blended in so well!
Drum roll, please! I finally made a sock that fits my foot!
I think singing the Hallelujah Chorus might even be appropriate. I guess the third time really is the charm!
Pattern: Not Pedestrian Peds by Stitch-n-Snitch
Yarn: Sockotta Color F616, but I like to call it Sherbet.
Love the pattern, love the yarn, what more can I say?
Queen of the Kitchen
I made one of my favorite recipes for breakfast this morning: Oatmeal Muffins. For those of us who make oatmeal, this is something to do with the leftovers. I found the recipe here: http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/muffins.htm . Just use the instructions for cereal muffins and check them after 15 minutes. I burn them if I bake them for 20! :-0
The Knitting DD’s Have Been at it Again!
When your daughter is desperate to sew!
This is what I did yesterday afternoon. We bought all the fabric and supplies the day before. DD#1 started the day by asking when we could start on it. She wasn’t very happy with me when I said it would be sometime after lunch! Anyway, at some point I went downstairs for something and found this:
She was so excited to sew, she laid everything out very neatly on the sewing machine! It made me smile! When we’re done it will look like this:
After 3 hours of cutting ironing and sewing, it looked like this:
I might be busy for awhile….;)
Love those Lemon Cucumbers
I picked two lemon cukes a couple of days ago and they taste so good! This was my first year growing cucumbers and I must say I am impressed with these! I think I will be having fresh cucumbers for awhile if the number of blossoms are any indication.
As far as other news… DD#2 lost her first front tooth! Here are a couple of pictures of her cute toothy grin!
DD#1 sock finished!
DD #1 finished her sock, unfortunately it was a little too small. Great job for a first sock. I’m on my third pair for myself and if they fit, it will be a first! Here’s a peek at what I’ve got so far…
DD #1’s knitting
While I was teaching DD#1 how to knit in the round some of my neighbor’s kids came over. They started asking about how to knit so I got out some needles and scrap yarn and we opened “Bloosgrl’s School for Knitting”! One of them finished her first project yesterday. Good job N!
